Chicken lollipops are a popular appetizer or snack that originated in India but have since spread to other parts of the world. The dish gets its name from the lollipop shape of the chicken meat that is formed by scraping the meat from the bone and pushing it down to the base. The result is fun and flavorful finger food that is perfect for parties or casual gatherings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil, for deep-frying

Instructions:

  1. First, separate the drumette and the flat part of the chicken wings. Keep the drumettes aside and use the flat part for another recipe.
  2. Cut the meat around the bone and push it down to make a lollipop shape. Discard the small bone.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, chili sauce, ginger-garlic paste, cornstarch, all-purpose flour, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the chicken lollipops to the bowl and mix well, making sure that each piece is coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl with cling wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  5. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken lollipops in batches and deep-fry for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the chicken lollipops from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
