Ingredients:

  • 2 cups shredded banana blossom (puso ng saging)
  • Saltwater for soaking
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 200g pork, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce (patis)
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 chili peppers, sliced or whole
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Soak shredded banana blossom in salt water for 15-20 minutes. Squeeze to remove bitterness, then rinse and drain.
  2. In a pan, heat vegetable oil and sauté onions and garlic until softened.
  3. Add pork slices and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Pour in fish sauce and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add banana blossom to the pan and cook until softened and releasing liquid.
  6. Pour in vinegar and boil uncovered for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Add water and chili peppers, then bring to a boil.
  8. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until pork and banana blossom are cooked.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
